I am a photographer just starting out and I’m looking for a new camera to use in my upcoming college photography class. I went to Best Buy to get my new camera; there were only two versions in stock, the Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera and the Nikon's D750 DSLR. Both were very high rated by photographers when I researched them more so comparing them should give me a clearer view of which one I should buy.
I researched that they both have an equal amount of battery life. One of the other important things I looked at was IOS settings; for the Canon it was auto with 100-6000 and Nikon also had auto but with 200-12800. The third most important was shutter speed which both had Electronic & Mechanical. The camera modes were about the same, the only difference being the Nikon had both continuous servo and full time servo; canon only had continuous. Nikon also had automatic. The speed is 30-1/8000 for Canon and 30-1/4000 for Nikon. There is a lot more settings for flash on the Nikon than the Canon, but the Canon has interchangeable lens. The Nikon has 24.3 megapixels making it better at taking quality pictures compared to the Canon which only has 18 megapixels.

When it comes down to it all the biggest factor for the decision was the cost of the camera and/or “how much am I willing to pay for X amount of technology” and “what amount of technology do I really need as a photographer just starting out”. With Nikon being five times the price of the Canon so the best choice would be the Canon. The price of the Nikon is not surprising because it has more technology and settings so it is going to have to cost more in order to make up for the cost of making and producing the product. Since I am a photographer starting out it is probably best that I get a cheaper camera because my budget is very low and I only need the bare minimum of settings for starting out in photography. Later on when I have more experience and more money I can go back and get the Nikon and progress as a photographer.
